How many different toothbrush holders can there be???

Toothbrush Holders

Toothbrush holders, have you googled these two words? If you're like me and you have then you are aware that there must be at least a zillion choices out there. If you arrived at this page by reading through the rest of my site you'll know that I like to take things and make them a little more manageable.

The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about toothbrush holders is, “hey, that thing has to go in my mouth everyday, I want to take care of it and not leave it laying around to collect germs and such.” With that thought in mind I guess the first job a toothbrush holder has is to keep my toothbrush clean and away from some of the other goings on in a bathroom. It also provides a place for my toothbrush to dry out after my morning tooth cleansing session. Finally, this utilitarian bathroom accessory has to look good. We can't just have any old hunk of metal or porcelain enshrining the protector of our dental work.

The first place I like to start what I'm selecting any accessory for a bathroom is with the finish. One school of thought is that every finish in a bathroom should match another school of thought would have complementing finishes the good news is there are plenty of finishes to go around. The first choice would probably be between metal or nonmetal. Toothbrush holders come in all sorts of materials from the exotic like bamboo to the more traditional like chrome steel.

When it comes to metal accessories, I'm a big fan of satin nickel. I think that satin nickel, of all the finishes, has the most style, is the most readily available and complements just about any color palette out there. I am also a big fan of oil rubbed bronze but I think that in a few years it will start to look like that old harvest gold refrigerator hiding out in the basement. In other words dated. I am not a big fan of chrome but, in houses that I am remodeling for resale, where budget is the deciding factor, the chrome has it hands down.

As for the wood, ceramic, porcelain and plastic stuff, well, they're all just peachy. I particularly like bamboo because of it's natural moisture resistance and renewable attributes. This stuff is like the wonder material of the future. I would watch for more and more things to be made of bamboo in the future. Teak is also a great choice for bathrooms again because of it's natural resistance to moisture. Plastic, ceramic and porcelain are all great but have a tendency to get broken in my house. (Young kids ya, know.)

Toothbrush holders come in a dizzying array of styles. There's the tumbler style, the hang on the wall style, the suction to the mirror kind, the kind that hides the brushes from view, the kind built for two, well, you get the point. Keep your toothbrushes clean and well cared for and they will take care of you no matter what the style.

Bottom line if you're looking for toothbrush holders there are about a million places to look. Start with the resources I have assembled here. The places I've looked are reputable and are good people to deal with. As always, if there is anything I can do to assist you in your search contact me and we'll chat. Until then, happy hunting!
