Bathroom Storage Cabinets

Bathroom storage cabinets and bathroom organization doesn't stop with the vanity cabinets, all sorts of bathroom cabinetry and bathroom shelving is available to make your bathroom all that it can be.

Space is always at a premium in a bathroom. While it is usually one of the smallest rooms in a house, the bathroom sees plenty of action in a days time and is frequently one of the few rooms everyone in the house will visit a few times a day. With all of this traffic it's easy to let the necessities pile up and leave the space looking like a war zone.

Bathroom storage cabinets can help to alleviate much of this clutter. Bathroom organizers come in all shape and forms. From a simple rubbermaid bin with drawers to go under a vanity cabinet to a full on towel shelf with space for towels and washcloths maybe even a nick-nack or two. The first thing to realize is that the space is limited. I have seen a lot of my customers find some really exciting cabinetry and other bathroom storage furniture out there only to find out that once it is in their house they cannot get the door closed.

To prevent this it is probably a good idea to have a tape measure and scale drawing of your bathroom with you as you shop. Make sure that on your drawing you indicate the path of door swings and other access issues like closet doors and windows. This will help to make sure that your prized purchase isn't a dreaded return later on. I have even had people build a scale model of an online purchase out of card board just to make sure their new bathroom storage cabinets didn't cramp their style.

A great way to add space in a bathroom is with a medicine cabinet. When I was growing up we had 2 medicine cabinets. One was a rusty metal box with a couple of metal shelves in it and the other was a painted cabinet with so many layers the door wouldn't close properly. Those days are gone. Today's bathroom storage cabinets no matter their location have the same durable finishes we've come to expect in the rest of the house. Pay close attention to manufacturers warranties here. many offer 10-20 year and sometimes even lifetime warranties on the finish.

When it comes to a quality medicine cabinet there are so many it boggles the mind. there may be just as many that aren't so great as well. Some things to look for are first, materials; wood, metal even plastic is becoming more and more popular. Second, like i mentioned above look at the finish and it's corresponding warranty. Third, hardware; what is the material here and does it go well with the other finishes in the bathroom, how well does it hold up in a a bathroom and what is the warranty? Finally the style does this work with all of the other bathroom storage furniture?

Bathroom organization is sort of an art. Sometimes when I am designing a bathroom I will have my customers bring out all of their toiletries and linens lay them out an prioritize them. Once this is done we can more effectively select bathroom space savers. Until we know exactly what has to go in there and how often it is going to be used it is difficult to get a handle on just what we need to make all of this happen.

Effective bathroom storage is all about space. One of the best uses of space in a bathroom is just over the toilet. Placing wall mounted bathroom cabinets just over the toilet minimizes the opportunity for bumps and scrapes and adds an architectural element to the wall. When thinking about wall cabinets, pay attention to the wall you'll be hanging them on. In newer homes the wall is probably a simple stud framed wall with drywall over top. But, if you live in an older home the possibilities widen, there could be lathe and plaster or even a masonry wall hiding under that coat of paint. Each type of wall material will warrant different techniques for hanging the bathroom wall cabinets.

Bathroom wall cabinets aren't all though, a strategically placed corner bathroom cabinet can really give a lot of useful space as well as make the bathroom more inviting. A good thing to remember here is to keep bathroom storage cabinets finishes complementary. They don't necessarily need to match but the do need to play well with one another.

The options are virtually limitless when it comes to bathroom storage furniture and and bathroom storage cabinets and as with everything else so are the opportunities to buy cabinets online. When dealing with online retailers be aware of what you're purchasing. Ask plenty of questions of their customer service if you're unsure. Verify the construction of the units. What are the materials? What are the warranties and what do I do if there is a problem? Knowing the answers to all of these questions upfront will make your online purchasing experience that much smoother.
